I'm currently looking for a daycare for my (son) who's about to be one year old. I've looked at many already and cannot seem to find a good one.
...From what I've seen, it seems like (the little ones) don't learn anything (at daycare). The teacher is spending the whole time changing diapers, getting food/snacks, consoling crying babies, or correcting them when they are being rough with each other.
I thought I found a good (daycare)...Then I spent time in the room and it was chaos. There were 6 kids and two teachers which I know is a good ratio for a one-year room. Three of the kids were crying the whole time. One teacher tried to console them but it didn't work. The other teacher took care of diapers, bottles etc. The kids that weren't crying were on their own running around hitting each other with toys and stuff. They had snot running down their noses, one shoe on one off. They all had their sippy cups which they would drop on the floor and then drink out of each others. It (the daycare) was a chaotic, stressful environment.

e-mail to this site from Julia (from Britain), 01-Jan-05 For a very long time I have been voicing my opinion... on daycare centres... I've been feeling like I'm in a minority of people and wondering why others just don't 'get it'. I know there is a need for daycare to be in place for some people, single moms and dads with no other alternative and certain other situations, but more and more it just seems that people see it as a natural thing that you have kids and put them in to day care.
...Now, are the kids really going to look back and say " I'm so glad Mum and Dad stuck me in daycare so we could go on those really great holidays and live in that huge house"?
No I don't think so!
...When my kids and I walk past one (of the many new daycare centres opened up in our community) on our way home from town my daughter (age 11) often says to me, "Mum, those little kids in there look so bored, and it looks so horrible in there, I'm glad you never put us in daycare."
...Hopefully with people doing great work like you guys (Daycares Don't Care website) we can maybe turn the tide.

LOOOOOVE your site!
I cannot take my eyes away from your website "Daycares Don't Care." It says everything I have always thought, and suspected. It sickens me how daycares have become the norm in our society.
...I just want to thank you for putting something like this out there.
It's not what parents want to hear, but the truth hurts. Keep up the good work!
