Although I worked to get both BA and and MS degrees, when I
had my son I quit my job so that I could raise him myself. While I worked my
way through college I also worked as a "preschool teacher" (a glorified
name for daycare workers) for 3 years. During that time, I discovered how
horrible daycare really is for children. What I found was that there were a
bunch of young, irresponsible, underpaid, "teachers" attempting to care for
children as YOUNG as 8 weeks. I remember one mother who was an ER nurse
who would be waiting at 6 AM to drop off her 8 week old daughter... so she
could go to work.
I do not regret FOR ONE SECOND that I am at home giving my son the love and
attention he needs and deserves. Although I gave up a significant salary to
be at home, I have found other ways to make extra income while also being my
son's mom.
Thank you for your site that encourages mothers and fathers to be just that.

Thank you for spreading the word that a child's best
caregiver is the parents. I am fortunate not only to stay at home with my
baby daughter, but to also have a husband who is proud that I am able to do
so. I have seen too many children who are raised by daycare, babysitters or
nannies who just don't have the bond, security and closeness with their
parents, not to mention the manners, morals or guidance that parents should
be teaching them.

I think that if at all possible, the
best place for children to be is with their parents at home.
A daycare just doesn't have the vested interest
(no matter how dedicated the workers are)
that children's parents do. My mother stayed at home when my
siblings and I were growing up...It was always so good to know that mum
would be home when I got home from school.
I think many of the problems that youth are having these days stem from them
being raised in daycares...

I just wanted to thank you for this
site. I'm constantly asked by people if my two-year-old goes to
"school"...and made to feel like I'm less of a mother because she doesn't...
Your website just opened my eyes to a lot of things I didn't know...thanks
so much!!
