...I love your site! I have the same
philosophy. Having worked in 3 child care centers before having my own
children I think they are not the right place for children, particularly
before the age of 3 or 4.

I just want to say thank you for your
website! ...I have been working in childcare for over 8yrs now. I agree with
EVERYTHING I have read on your site. It is extremely relieving to know that
so many people working and not working in this field understand and see
things just the same way I do. I love that you have broken the silence and
talk about a very sensitive subject in an honest and very real manner.

I am currently working for a well known
corp. center... I am fond of all of the children that I care for, but truth
be told it's frustrating...We also have a lot of illnesses at or center as
well...
I have enjoyed your website and it has given me a lot to think about (mostly
my career choice). I do love kids, but I just wasn't aware of how little
care is actually given to them, not just by daycare staff...

...Don't even get me started with the
food. I believe prisoners eat better than some daycare children. Our meals
consists of opening cans of veggies and fruit, and a pasta of some sort.
Mostly pasta (pasta and rice is cheap) with sauce and some frozen meat
thrown in. Almost every meal is about the same. It's either pasta, rice, or
a sandwich.
I wish parents would understand that Daycare are a prison for their little
ones. If they understood they might not leave them there for 10 or more
hours. Sadly most kids are there longer than their parent's full time
job....Most kids are there before I arrive in the morning and they are still
there when my 8 to 9 hr shift is done.
As I was getting my coat on to go home the other day a little girl asked
"are you going home?" I told her I was and she said "if you see my mom will
you tell her to come get me, I want to go home too."

I agree that there are many shady things
that go on in many daycare's, I know this because I spent four years work
for one of the biggest daycare company's in the US.

I currently work at a daycare in the two
year old room. It's horrible I would never send my kid to daycare.
It's a very exhausting job... I missed tons and tons of days of work because
I was sick from the kids.
Bottom line is that daycares are not meant for kids.

I am very glad to have come across this
site. I have been a daycare teacher for years, and am completely disgusted
by the WHOLE daycare system.
I feel extremely fortunate that I personally did not have to put my own to a
DAYCARE!!! |

I am a daycare worker with over 30 years
of experience as both a mother and daycare worker...I went to college and
received my ECE diploma and went to work in daycares in two different
provinces in Canada.
What I saw shocked me and I must say that daycare is NOT a good option for
children under the age of three, babies who cannot speak for themselves and
are virtually helpless in their circumstances.
Of course these places are in it for the buck and shove as many kids in as
they are able to and the parents will continue to bring sick kids in and the
rate of infections is very high.
Staff is difficult to get and retain at the low wages paid so regular staff
who are sick are often kept working to the point of collapse. Forget
Early Childhood Education...This is a tough school of hard knocks and sink
or swim for the kids thrown into it.
