Hello, I have been a fan of of your
wonderful website since July 2009. I have worked at a school as a teachers
aide...and aftercare (daycare) during the intersessions.
I've witnessed children being ignored, bitten, slapped (by other children),
showing off their private parts to each other, spitting on each other,
eating each others food. The older kids bulling the younger ones, throwing
chairs, chasing them, talking about porn...the list goes on.
Most of the little ones would cry almost all day till they fell asleep. The
good kids would get ignored and have a hard time resting because of the
noisy misbehaved ones.

I worked at a daycare...as a "Head
Teacher" of a 2 year old room. I have thoroughly read through your website
and nearly everything I've read, I've witnessed first hand.
I'm hoping if enough parents read the horror stories on this website,
they'll re-think putting their child in a day institution.
(Her list goes on to describe injuries, mayhem, unsanitary conditions,
disease, etc.)
I could continue, but it makes me so genuinely sad. The reason I resigned my
job is because I had my son and KNEW (thanks to working at a daycare) that I
would no sooner put him in a daycare than I would put him in a cage with
tigers. Thank you for getting the word out about these awful daycares.
You're welcome to post my letter. If it changed even one mom or dad's mind
about putting their child in daycare, I would consider it an accomplishment.

I run a very small home-based daycare.
I'm closing at the end of the month and leaving this line of work because it
just doesn't feel right. I think it is unnatural to pay someone to have a strong
attachment with your child. Can you imagine what it would feel like if your
friends and family were paid to love you?

I found your site and its all true.
Watch these daycares that say their curriculum is the best...IT'S A LIE...
We cannot tell you that Johnny was acting up that he called the other kids
bad all day, that he hits several all day including the teacher. We have
kids that punch the daylights out of each other. AND I WAS TOLD IF WE WRITE
up the kids too much WE CAN LOSE OUR JOBS!! So parents, what happens is your
kid gets hit a lot, they cry and YOU DO NOT LISTEN to your kid.
Parents get mad because we do not smile Why should we?? Management doesn't
support us, they lie to us and they lie to you parents at the door. We get
stuck in a room 8 hours a day and we about wet our own pants. We have to
watch everything we say to co workers. At times I am left with 22 kids
that's against regulations! All I do is put out fires with kids all day
long. I am not allowed to talk to the parent but say they had a great day or
tell about an art projects or something we did in class. ITS ALL SHOW at the
front door wanting you to be foolish (and) sign your kid up for the summer
camp. (Also, summer camp) is boring they have little to offer and they make
the kids suffer a lot outside. Its all making corp happy and making money.
...there are days I am ready to walk out due to the chaos, lack of help,
lack of support, boredom being in a room with no adult interaction, tired of
kids not listening, hitting, etc.
WAKE UP PARENTS ...the kids are bored with the toys in the room and lack of
new toys, materials, art materials and the PC is a joke too.

I am a daycare worker and I wish with
all my heart that daycares would become obsolete. I would love to see
children stay home with a family member.
...daycare isn't the best place for a child (...home is the best place)

I worked at two very 'high quality'
daycares while in college. Your site is absolutely right they are not much
more than day kiddie prisons. The constant sicknesses, horrible food from a
scratch and dent store, often over ratios, I saw it all! I was told not to
pickup the babies too much. I had to leave that industry. I felt like I was
contributing too much to the decay of society when I had to try to get the
babies to want to play with plastic junk when they really just wanted me to
hold them.

Verbatim from my list of job
requirements: "Must be able to work in an environment that is at times
competitive and ambiguous." HUH? Well that's exactly what it is, gossipy,
back-biting, and cruel. And the kids have it hard too. >_>
...I have always disliked the idea of having...infants/toddlers in
childcare, despite the fact that I have always been an infant/toddler
teacher. I couldn't leave my small child somewhere for eight+ hours
everyday, and pretend they don't exist....

daycare workers teach the kids to fight each other while they're in
daycare.", 29-Jun-12 |
I quit my daycare job a few months ago
after I witnessed some terrible things. The teachers didn't wash their
hands, they didn't sanitize, and they treated the kids in a harsh, rude,
inhumane manner. I couldn't stand it anymore so I quit.
No wonder daycare kids are so aggressive. They've been taught that the best
way to "defend yourself" in daycare is to be able to throw a good punch when
you're picked on. These kids quickly learn to throw the first punch so that
they can get the other kid to hit him back. Then they tell the teacher, "He
hit me!!!" and the daycare teacher will look up from her (mobile cell phone)
text messaging and will say, "He hit you? Well you go over there and hit him
back." The daycare teacher is usually talking to her co-workers or she'll be
texting so she will not have witnessed the little bully picking on the other
kid. It's pitiful.
We create bullies in daycare. That's a fact.
